This Easy Healthy Cold Taco Dip With Cottage Cheese is made without cream cheese and with cottage cheese instead! Seasoned with taco seasoning, it is packed with flavor, super creamy and healthy!

Cold Cottage Cheese Taco Dip

I love a good dip. Especially one that is quick to layer and can be served COLD! Aren’t they the best? Especially when you have ZERO time to cook and need to make something in advance!

How To Make This Dip

This cottage cheese dip is seasoned with a packet of taco seasoning. That’s it! I wanted to keep it simple yet healthy. It is also GF and keto friendly.

With that said, you can add other spices like chili pepper, cayenne, or herbs if you wish. You can also add sour cream to add a tang! This is something I will do every now and then to change it up.

If you want to make your OWN taco seasoning, you can! This way, you can control the spices, sodium, preservatives, etc. in those pre-packaged seasonings. I like to make one big batch and store it in an empty spice container with a label. This way, it’s always there and will keep for months!

Step 1: Mix your cottage cheese and taco seasoning.

Step 2: Add your shredded lettuce.

Step 3: Top with chopped tomatoes.

Step 4: Sprinkle shredded cheeses.

Step 5: Add chopped green onions and serve cold!

Why Cream Cheese Dips Are Not The Best

Dips that have cream cheese are not the best for making COLD dips.

Why?

Well because, when refrigerated, the cream cheese hardens. A lot! So if you are serving a layered taco dip with cream cheese, you will need to leave it out at room temperature for about an hour before serving. Otherwise, you will have some good “chip-breaking” dip!

If you WANT to include cream cheese, this recipe would still be delicious. You will just need to add at least half the amount of cottage cheese (in a 1:1 ratio) so it stays creamy and doesn’t harden up too much in the fridge. No one like broken chips in their dip. No one.
