Grilled Greek Lamb Chop Lollipops
Lamb chop lollipops are a fancy appetizer that is sure to impress guests! If you’re planning on throwing a fancy cocktail party, fire up the BBQ and get ready for these to disappear!
Where To Find Lollipop Lamb Chops
Lollipop lamb chops are sold at most popular grocery stores. They will have them either pre-cut OR as a rack already packaged in the meat section. If not, just ask the butcher if they have any in the back. The fresher your chops the better anyway.
Look for the lamb chops that are ‘frenched’ cut lollipop style, so all you will need to do is marinate and toss on the grill!
A better, cheaper option is wholesale!
If you have a membership to a BJ’s or Sam’s Club, try there first especially if you are looking to serve a larger group!
Just make sure you get the “frenched” lamb chops. Frenched just means they already trimmed the meat from the bottom of the bone to make them look like cute little lollipops. It makes them so fun to eat and easy to dip in the tzatziki sauce!
Grilling Your Lamb Chops
So once you’ve found your chops, slice ’em up if needed, and marinate for at least an hour to absorb all of the goodness from the garlic and herbs.
And yes, grill them please! Baking them is just not the same. It takes the flavor over the edge by giving them a smokey flavor everyone loves!
How To Grill Your Lambchops
I think we all “eat with our eyes” first so I believe in paying attention to the little details when it comes to food.
Doing something like making sure your grill marks are on point is something I like to pay close attention to. If you look at the photo here, you can see cross hash marks.
This is actually one of the first things I learned in the culinary class I took in college. Before then, I never knew what the heck hash marks were and that something as simple as rotating could make something look that much more appetizing!
All you need to do is set them down on a hot grill and DON’T TOUCH THEM!!!
Then after 5 minutes or so, rotate about 45° degrees.
Wait another 5 minutes or so and then you should be good to go on one side!
The other side wont need much time at all since they will be close to cooked through. Don’t over cook your lamb chops!
Homemade Greek Tzatziki Sauce
Tzatziki is my absolute favorite sauce! Not just because I’m Greek but because it’s just so refreshing! Plus it goes with pretty much everything and is super healthy!
Not to brag but my yiayia makes the BEST tzatziki sauce from scratch and brings it to EVERY family get together.
Now when I say she makes it from scratch, I mean she makes the yogurt from scratch then adds the cucumbers, etc. That’s why it is so thick and so delicious.
Try making your own yogurt at home!
So whether you go with store-bought or homemade, just make sure your tzatziki is THICK! You want to be able to ‘dollop’ the tzatziki onto the lamb, not pour it on!

- 3/4 Tsp. Salt
- 1/2 Tsp. Cracked Black Pepper
Tzatziki
- 3/4 Cup Greek Yogurt
- 1 Tsp. Minced Garlic
- 1 Tsp. Sherry Vinegar
- 1 Tsp. Olive Oil
- 1 Tsp. Freshly Chopped Parsley
- 1/4 Tsp. Salt

Instructions
- Cut rack of lamb into individual chops if not already cut.
- Mix marinade ingredients and pour over chops massaging it into the meat. (You can put the meat in a large plastic bag or in a shallow dish while marinating.) Place in fridge for at least an hour.
- In the meantime, make the tzatziki by combining all of the ingredients in a small bowl. Store in fridge.
- After an hour, take meat out and let come to room temperature. Don't throw cold meat on the grill!
- Grill on high heat for about 10 minutes total. (Time will depend on the thickness of your chop) My chops were about 1/2" thick.
- Top with tzatziki or serve on the side!

What a great idea serving lamb chops for starter. They are way too small to serve as main. I love your sauce. I usually use mint but I will try with parsley.
Thanks Laura! You def. could do mint instead as it naturally goes well with lamb!
