This Lighter Than Air Pumpkin Mousse Dip is the perfect dessert for any Fall get-together! Made without cream cheese, it is so airy you wont feel guilty eating half the bowl yourself!

“Lighter Than Air” Pumpkin Mousse

I am a little obsessed with pumpkin around this time of year so it was inevitable that I throw another pumpkin recipe on my blog!

However when doing a little research, I noticed A LOT of pumpkin dips have either cream cheese, marshmallow fluff or Cool Whip…

And since I dislike fluff, think cream cheese is way too heavy, and believe that Cool Whip is too artificial tasting, I nixed those ingredients.

Instead, I decided to make my own whipped cream to fold into the puree.

I am sure cream cheese would make this more “decadent” but that was not what I was going for.

I wanted the lightest dip possible that still held its flavor. And since I absolutely LOVE making my own whipped cream, a pumpkin mousse was a no-brainer!

If you have never made your own whipped cream, you have to try it at least once! It couldn’t be easier.

There really is nothing better than freshly whipped cream. You can flavor your cream with any extract, sugar of course, or any spice (cinnamon is my favorite). It really is a blank canvas and can take any simple dessert over the top.

It is what I make for Derek when he needs something sweet in his life. I will simply add heavy cream to my mixer, a little sweetener and 1 minute later, I have yummy whipped cream to top on just about anything. I will throw on granola, ice cream, or just some fruit like bananas or berries.

Pumpkin Mousse “Dippers”

So for this dip, I actually made mini Autumn pie chips using some cute little cutters I have.

If you have pie dough, you really can make any shape to dip into this dip. This part can be tedious so if you are lacking time, just use those Nilla Wafer cookies or some graham crackers!

When I ran out of the pie chips, I went for the graham crackers and LOVED the combination.

I served this dip in a cute little ceramic pumpkin jar I have but another idea would be to cut out a small pumpkin and use that as a vessel! It is so festive and not as hard as you would think. You just need a sharp knife.

This dip can be kept in the fridge for up to 3 days and will hold its “airy-ness”.

If you’re looking for another easy pumpkin dessert, try my Pumpkin Puree Oatmeal Bites! They are my most popular on the blog to date and can be eaten for breakfast, dessert or a snack!

Add all ingredients except pumpkin puree to a mixer and whisk on high for about 1 1/2 minutes.

A stiff peak should hold upside down when it’s done!

Add the pumpkin puree and gently fold in with a rubber spatula until fully incorporated.

Add to your desired vessel and pile that yummy dip in!
